ice-bath

If “wellness gyms near me” continues to trend among the health and wellness community, “Let’s meet for a coffee,” will soon step aside for “Meet me for an ice bath.” Next time you are looking for a great place to take someone new, consider searching “wellness gyms near me”.

A new concept in health, wellness and social events is gaining traction online and in brick-and-mortar locations. Mental health gyms and wellness centers are emerging, not just as opportunities for me-time, but as meeting places for friends and a way to form communities around emotional and physical health.

Blending wellness with your social life

One spot leading the way is The Remedy Place in Los Angeles. Founded by Dr. Jonathan Leary, a former concierge physician, the club encourages members to use it as a place to de-stress while spending quality time with friends.

Mental fitness, minus the therapist

Another, remote option is the mental fitness company Coa, founded by Alexa Meyer and psychologist Dr. Emily Anhalt. The concept, which charges a monthly subscription fee, offers therapist-led classes designed to foster connection and help participants become emotionally stronger.

In the Coa format, participants can take courses with a group of friends or one-on-one. According to a Washington Post story by Hilary Achauer, classes are built around seven themes that the founders believe are the pillars of emotional fitness: self-awareness, empathy, mindfulness, curiosity, playfulness, resilience, and communication.

It’s exciting to see more people normalizing and celebrating wellness and self-care. Would you replace a coffee or drink with a friend for some you-time, together?

“Wellness gyms near me” might have been the last place you thought about meeting someone, but it’s actually a great place to start a healthy relationship.
